In Hebrew, they are called mal'akh, meaning "messenger", and in Persian the word is angaros or "courier". Angels and archangels act as intermediaries between God and Man. Both orders are very similar and their duties and concerns are often very close to each other and may cross. As the lowest order in the hierarchy of the angelic host, they are given to two major tasks.
